Okotoks Public Library (OPL) is growing. We will be moving in Summer/Fall of 2021 into our new, and expanded, library of 22,587 square feet--a 55% larger space.
The OPL Board needs to outfit this expanded space with Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FFEs). We have been fundraising for two years although COVID makes this more challenging.
Our latest fundraiser is this online auction where you'll have the opportunity to bid on some really unique items!

Framed in a beautiful leather look frame with a suede mat, this picture is of Vern Lonsberry, known as the "cowboy's cowboy." An Alberta icon, Vern was leading this herd of bucking horses on their trek to the Calgary Stampede grounds for the upcoming rodeo that year.
Bernie Brown is a self-taught pencil artist born and raised in Saskatchewan. He was a junior high school art and physical education teacher who gave up teaching after 14 years to become a fulltime artist. In 1993 Bernie and his family left their home in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and he and his wife, Margie now live on a ranch near Longview, Alberta.
Because of a love of drawing, Brown chooses to work in pencil and then adds watercolour to accent some of his work. More recently, he has become an enthusiast of using watercolour to transform his prints by completely painting them in watercolour resulting in beautiful mixed medium works of art.
With a technique and style very much his own, his topics vary from wildlife to ranch, rodeo, farm, and prairie scenes. Bernie takes great pride in his prairie heritage and strives to accurately depict scenesthat portray our western culture. His work has won numerous national and international awards including “Feature Artist” and “Best of Show” at the Calgary Stampede.
