Study Rooms

The Okotoks Public Library has two study rooms available for a maximum of 2 hours per day. Starting March 18, 2024 study rooms can be booked ahead up to two weeks in advance using our new online booking website. See further details below.

The study rooms may occasionally be unavailable in the event that they are required for Library programming.

Study Room FAQs

Our study rooms have a 2-hour time limit. Room bookings will automatically be cancelled if a user does not check in to their room within the first fifteen (15) minutes of their booking.

Our study rooms can seat up to four people.

Each study room includes:

  • One table
  • Four chairs
  • Whiteboard
  • Whiteboard supplies (ask at Adult Service desk)

Free - there is no cost to use our study rooms!

  1. Study rooms are available for use for a maximum of two (2) hours. Room bookings will automatically be cancelled if a user does not check in to their room within the first fifteen (15) minutes of their booking.
  2. Study rooms cannot be used by a business as their primary operating space.
  3. Library study rooms are scheduled for bookings only during regular library operating hours.
  4. Study room users may not disrupt the use of the library by others. Persons using the study rooms are subject to OPL Policy 2100 - Public Use of Facilities.
  5. Supervision of children while adults are using a study room is the responsibility of the parents or caregiver, not Library staff.
  6. The Library is not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged personal items. Equipment, supplies or personal effects cannot be stored or left in the study rooms before or after use.
  7. Alcohol, vaping, and smoking are not permitted.
  8. Study rooms must be left clean and in the same condition as found. Furniture should be returned to its original location. Food and drink is permitted and should be disposed of at the end of the room booking.
  9. Study rooms are made available on an equitable basis, regardless of the beliefs or affiliations of individuals or groups requesting their use, in accordance with the Canadian Federation of Library Associations Statement on Intellectual Freedom.
  10. The Okotoks Public Library (OPL) does not advocate or endorse the viewpoints expressed by any individual or group using a study room. Granting permission to use OPL facilities does not constitute an endorsement of the group or its beliefs by OPL.
  11. The Library will not knowingly permit any individual or group to use its facilities for any illegal purpose, or for any activity that may cause a disturbance of the public peace.
  12. The OPL reserves the right to allow Library staff, maintenance, or custodians to enter the study room at any time.
