Marigold Library System recently made the decision not to renew the eResource hoopla, effective June 1, 2024.
We understand that some library users are unhappy with the removal of the hoopla eResource as of June 1. It is an unfortunate change for users who loved hoopla. Especially when people were used to this particular service that had been offered for ten years.
Unfortunately, hoopla was no longer financially sustainable to offer based on a high overall cost per use model with limited monthly downloads, and few active users in relation to the rising cost. We apologize for the inconvenience, but want to assure library users that many other eResources are available to meet their needs. In some instances, resources are available without holds, so there is no wait list to join!
- Kanopy Bundles – Streaming video collection that is simultaneous use.
- Brainfuse:
- HelpNow
- JobNow
- OverDrive/Libby eBook, eAudio, eMagazine and Kanopy platform
- A feature is available called Lucky Day Reads and Lucky Day Audio that include many popular titles that do not have a waitlist.
- Another feature is Available Now that includes items that have been recently returned or do not have a waitlist.
- Freegal – access over 15 million songs from the Sony Music Catalogue. Patrons can download up to five songs per week or stream up to five hours per day. Patrons can create playlists and access the songs from anywhere at anytime.
